There’s something just a little bit magical about Morocco which is known as the ‘Gateway to Africa’. When choosing where we wanted to enjoy our babymoon, Morocco ticked all of our boxes. It wasn’t too far for me to fly, has a world famous spa for that perfect relaxing experience for a mumma to be and a climate that suits my overwhelming desire to sit in the sun and do nothing but relax. It also has yummy cuisine and a beautiful culture to discover and explore, not too mention it’s been on our bucket list forever!
What is a ‘babymoon’ you may ask? It’s a relaxing and romantic holiday taken by parents-to-be before their baby is born. It’s usually recommended you do this in your second trimester when you have a bit more energy and especially if you are flying to your destination.
Morocco left me feeling like I was princess Jasmine exploring the world of Aladdin! Can you tell I’m a Disney fan?! Maybe it had something to do with the gorgeous Moroccan rugs I saw while I was there. The blend of African, Arabic and European influences make Morocco a destination rich in history and...it's ridiculously photogenic!
There are two main types of accommodation in Marrakesh, hotels and Raids. We decided to enjoy the best of both worlds and split our trip so we could experience it all. For the first couple of nights we stayed at The Raid Yasmine which is in a league all of it's own! Honestly, this place was heaven and you can see why this boutique Riad is one of Instagram’s most famous spots! Raids are traditional houses with a beautiful inner courtyard garden. From the outside they look like any other old residential house but as soon as you step through the entrance you find a relaxing oasis away from all the hustle and bustle! We loved lounging and swimming around the pool surrounded by a tropical garden, palm trees and banana plants.
I brought this super cute swimsuit from Cupshe. It's not actually a maternity swimsuit but I just ordered it in a size bigger than normal to make room for the bump.

The Raid Yasmine also has a rooftop where you can take in the view of the Medina and sip on some traditional Moroccan mint tea from the oversized sofas. Hanging out on rooftop’s is something of a tradition in Marrakech and it’s a perfect way to relax and allow this mumma to be to put her feet up. What better way to start the day then enjoying mint tea on the rooftop and soaking up the atmosphere and the gorgeous views! Also guys....you haven't experienced mint tea until you try it in Morocco! If you have visited you will know what I mean!
I purchased this maxi dress from Get Frocked which was just perfect for the bump! Unfortunately it sold out pretty quickly, so I have found some similar options below.
The rooms are just as beautiful as their insta-famous courtyard, with colourful Moroccan rugs and mosaic bathrooms. The staff here were so genuine, friendly & helpful. We didn't want to leave! You can see from the photos why this raid is so popular, make sure you book here well ahead if you are planning a trip to Marrakech!
During the afternoons we went out exploring and getting lost in the Medina. The souks (markets) of Marrakech are situated right in the heart of the Medina and is a treasure trove for shoppers like myself! There was so much to take in, the noise, smells and colours are a truely mesmerising experience when wandering through the labyrinth of shops. You may want to leave some extra space in your luggage because there is simply something here for everyone! From Arabian lamps and carpets to Argan oil and heavenly perfumes. We decided to buy a leather poof for the nursery as a babymoon memory and a keep sake.
One of our favourite places for food was Limoni. We escaped the busy Medina and entered this Italian/Moroccan oasis. They serve delicious Italian dishes in a courtyard filled with lemon trees. The food was delicious, the atmosphere charming and the service impeccable. We would highly recommend their tortellini and the apricot chicken tagine. For those that would like something other than traditional Morrocan food this Italian restaurant is an absolute must.
