J&J's Trip to Oxford

I've been wanting to check out Oxford for a long time and this charming little city did not disappoint! One of the world's most famous university cities, Oxford is only a two hour drive from London making it the perfect weekend getaway!

As soon as we arrived we were off exploring, wondering around cobble stoned streets and honey-coloured buildings. We spend the morning admiring the amazing architecture, every street holds something new to see. Walking under the Bridge of Sigh's brought back fond memories of the original in Venice and gave us a little a glimpse of Italy in the heart of Oxford.

We love exploring new places and Oxford was made extra special having Mum join us. Mummy, daughter time is even better when you're on an adventure!

Not all the buildings were honey-coloured. Being the blogger I am I spotted these pastel beauties from a mile away!

Ready for the best views in Oxford?!

St Mary’s Church gives you amazing 360 degree views over the city and as well as an amazing view over the Radcliffe Camera library. We climbed to the top of the tower and could see all round the old town. It's like stepping back in time!

You do have to be prepared to climb a few steps to see this incredible view, but it's totally worth it!

Before adventuring further we decided our tummy's needed replenishing and it was time for Brunch! We headed to the iconic Gee's. An old Victorian greenhouse now converted into a restaurant 5 minutes walk from the city centre.

A warm cup of tea, a coffee, Eggs Benedict or a beautiful bowl of homemade granola, in a Victorian glass house, I think only one question is left to be asked...When are we going back again?

They found out that it was my birthday weekend and surprised me with a few sweet treats before we left. A huge thank you to the wonderful staff, we will be back again for sure!

One of the most famous things to do in Oxford is to go punting! A punt is a flat bottomed boat used in small rivers. The punter stands on the end of the boat pushing it by a pole against the river bed. Similar to a Venetian gondola, just much more English.

What a gorgeous way to spend the afternoon floating along the river while our chauffeur punted us along the winding stream.

The chauffeur also took time to point out some old buildings and their history. We set off south past Oxford's famous Botanic Gardens, Magdalen College School fields and through Christ Church Meadows where Lewis Carroll was teaching students in the mid 19th-century. That's also when he wrote the famous Alice in Wonderland!

After our punting experience we decided to go for a walk through Christ Church meadow amongst the beautiful trees as they began to turn the colours of Autumn.

I loved wearing this new dress by Izabel London. It's the perfect midi length and adorned with a gorgeous floral pattern.

We loved walking around, poking our noses through doorways and admiring the old collages. We made our way to one of the largest colleges in Oxford University, Christ Church. You feel like you're in a period drama or more importantly, one of the Harry Potter movies!

Both the staircase and the great dining hall was used in many of the Harry Potter movies. Imagine being a student here and eating in the 'Hogwarts' dining hall' everyday! If you are planning to visit Oxford, Christ church is mandatory.

We also did a tour of the Bodleian library where a few more Harry Potter scenes were filmed.

The next day was very special, my birthday! I woke up to a hotel room full of pink balloons and a slice of birthday cake to be enjoyed in bed along with a few presents before heading back to London for more celebrations. On the way we stopped in at Bicester Village, a famous designer outlet. I love shopping, I just love it! Online, in store, you name it! If it's anything shopping, I'm there!

There's nothing like a bit of Mummy & Daughter retail therapy! Last but not least, on the way back to  London we stopped off for a bit of, you guessed it... pumpkin picking! You can read all about that here.
