Mama Mia, here we go again!!!
I was super excited when the girls in my family decided that we should do a girls trip to Greece! Talk about ultimate location! My mum, aunties and myself flew in from all over the world. I literally felt like we were all in the movie, Mama Mia!
I have been very fortunate to have visited Greece before. You can’t imagine how happy I was to go back! So far I have had the pleasure of visiting Athens, Ios. Paros, Santorini and Mykonos. Santorini and Mykonos being my two absolute favourites. So, I was over the moon when it was decided that these would be the two locations we would visit! I grabbed my passport and packed my bags. The crystal clear waters of the Greek islands was calling my name...
Our first location was beautiful Mykonos. This delightful little island has its own unique charm that sets it apart from the rest! I loved walking around the colourful streets and getting lost. Trust me you'll want to get lost for all the Instagram worthy photos! I could barely walk ten feet without taking a photo. We stayed at the Mykonos View Hotel which has gorgeous views overlooking Old Town and a massive pool with a pool bar! After our days out exploring it was the perfect place to relax and take a dip along with a beverage or two!
They also served a huge buffet breakfast which you could enjoy in the restaurant or take back to your own private balcony and enjoy the views!
Up bright and early we headed to one of the most photographed churches in Greece, Church of Paraportiani . You can see why as soon as you lay eyes on this beauty. With its unique architecture and beautiful white washed walls …it was the perfect iconic Mykonos photo!
You can see why people fall head over heels in love with this place! I was obessed with all the blue doors and pink Bougainville over top! I adored wandering around the alleyways lined with cute little boutiques, selling products and designs from local Greek artists.
The Greek Islands are quite famous for their stray cats and it didn't take me long to make a few friends....lets just say I would be called the crazy cat lady if I permanently lived on this island!
While spending the morning exploring we found Bonbonniere in the centre of town, a perfect place to grab a drink and a snack while people watching.
To my delight, I also bumped into Mykonos's most famous resident!! Petros the Pelican! The islands much loved mascot.
We found this cute restaurant called Familia and it seemed like the perfect place to have dinner with the family that evening! This restaurant is as pretty has a postcard with beautiful pink bougainvillea overhead and white washed walls. It was so lovely sitting outside with the girls sipping on wine, chatting away, enjoying delicious Greek fare!
Up again early the next day we went to the iconic windmills which are perched along the coast on the southern tip of Mykonos town. The windmills were built by the Venetians in the 16th century to mill flour, and use to be Mykonos largest revenue. It's the perfect place to watch the sunset however if you want the place to yourself head there at sunrise instead and miss the crowds!
A trip to Mykonos is not complete without a visit to Little Venice. This is such a beautiful area where you can find restaurants and bars that are literally on the water! This place gets packed in the evenings however, if you head down early you can have the place to yourself!
My favourite place to pick up a drink was Kastro's Bar, home to arguably one of the most photographed passageways overlooking the water. A great place to grab a seat by the water’s edge and enjoy a long drink while watching the sun go down.
Even though this is one of those places that looks like your typical tourist restaurant, Kavos is definitely worth a visit. This place is situated right by the waters edge and did the best seafood that we had of our whole trip! We loved this place so much we actually ended up eating here twice!
On our final day in Mykonos we decided to hire a motor bike and head out to explore some of the beach clubs on the island. Of course as soon as I saw this pink bike I knew it was the one I wanted to hire being the girly girl I am.
Our first stop was Kalua beach club located in Paraga Bay. I loved Kalua's trendy vibe and would recommend going before lunch as in the afternoon this place can get really busy. A great place to lounge, relax, soak up the sun and take a dip in the crystal blue waters!
After lunch we headed to Scorpios. We were one of the first people to arrive when it opened so got some great photos without anybody in them. But don't be fooled by my photos this place can get really busy and pumping by sunset all the way into the wee hours of the morning. We loved this place so much that we didn't move for the rest of the day and enjoyed cocktails and tapas while sitting in the sun and enjoying the atmosphere.
All in all Mykonos's stole my heart all over again! More Greek Island adventures coming soon with our next part of the trip...Santorini!
Jessie!!!!! These images are gorg! Now I want to travel there even more!!!
