J&J in Canada ~ Part 1

We have always wanted to visit Canada.  It’s a huge country with so much to offer! Think expansive landscapes, iconic wilderness, amazing food, MAPLE SYRUP and incredibly friendly people. This trip was extra special as we went to spend quality time with Jake’s family.

Guys, meet the Harlocks!  I don't think I will ever get over the warm hospitality these guys treated us to! As soon as we arrived we were greeted with huge smile,  hugs all round and the fun never ended.  I loved their huge house which came complete with a 'postcardesque' dusting of snow.  They really were the perfect hosts doubling as our very own private tour guides, showing us around their gorgeous home town, Burlington.

Their house reminded us of the one on Home Alone!

Not only were they amazing hosts, they also left the most gorgeous Canadian themed welcome hamper.

Flowers, snacks, vino...Seriously, I was in heaven!

And if the welcome hamper wasn't enough, it turns out Hayley is also an independent consultant for Arbonne, so our bathroom was fully stocked with their gorgeous products to try! During our stay I become a big fan of their products especially their Shower Set. The best part about Arbonne is that they are botanically based and 100% vegan friendly, so you know that its actually good for you and not filled with chemicals.

The Harlock family knew the way to our hearts....Food! They took us along to Ancaster Mill for a truly unforgettable Sunday brunch. The venue is a stunning refurbished 1850s stone flour mill with a large dining room that overlooks the falls.

This was only the first plate of many! They weren't lying about Canadians being friendly, we were on first name basis with the staff before I finished my first plate!

The kids loved this dessert table including an amazing chocolate fountain!

Niagara, Ontario is wine country in Canada. So of course we had to make our way to Niagara-on-the-Lake to enjoy a country escape with a bit of food and a whole lot of wine! We spent the afternoon driving through the countryside sampling each vineyard's best drop before purchasing a few bottles to take home.

Angles Gate, Organized Crime, Tawse and Jackson Trigg were some of our favorite vineyards.

John recently treated himself to a new car which meant we were driving through wine country in style!

Going to a winery in winter was something that we have never done before. It was such a beautiful sunny day, most of the snow had melted away but that didn't stop us from discovering a few hidden gems only found in the cooler months.

We ended our winery tour at Peller Estate, which came highly recommended! The building was incredible, and the landscape picture perfect and the Ice Wine was to die for!

We donned a warm parka and entered into a climate controlled - 10 Below ice bar for an immersive Ice Wine tasting extravaganza!

The next day we were very excited to explore Toronto which is voted one of the most livable cities in Canada. We loved exploring the city including stopping to get a tourist snap in front of City Hall.

We headed down to the water front for beautiful views overlooking Lake Ontario and also the CN Tower.

Street food was on the menu for lunch. We started with Poutine which is hot chips with gravy and cheese, which also happens to be my new favorite thing to eat! We also went for a traditional hot dog with all the toppings!

The next day we packed the car up and made our way to Blue Mountain Ski Resort in Collingwood but not before taking a photo with our new furry friend, Ruby.

I can't wait to share the part two of our Canadian adventure with you soon!
