High Tea at The Ritz

I love high tea and have been lucky enough to experience quite a few. However, there is no where else quite like High Tea at The Ritz. It is one of the best and most famous places for afternoon tea in London. Which is why you shouldn't be surprised that you have to book months in advance. Which is exactly what I did for a very special occasion…my birthday!! I adore every aspect about high tea…from getting dressed up and sipping tea from beautiful china to sampling the exquisitely hand crafted sweets and savouries. Afternoon tea is definitely one of my favourite things to do in London.

So without further adieu come follow me inside!

We felt like royalty as soon as we entered The Ritz, with a warm welcome from the doorman as he opened the doors to reveal the beautiful hotel lobby. It's like stepping back in time and makes you feel like a film star in the Great Gatsby Movie!

High tea is served in the elegant Palm Court. From floor to ceiling mirrored walls, chandeliers, a gilded fountain and fresh flowers everywhere to the pianist playing on a grand piano, the setting just takes your breath away.

Once we were seated we were able to select our choice of tea from a range of 16 quality loose leaf infusions. I had Rose Congou while Jake had the Ritz Royal English which is The Ritz's own special blend.

The high tea itself was “S’marvellous”. The finger sandwiches and savouries were mouth-watering and the cakes were delicious and almost looked too good to eat! The Ritz is famous for their scones served with clotted cream and jam and definitely lived up to our expectations.

Just when we thought we couldn’t indulge any further, a waiter arrived with even more sweet delights asking us if we would like to try some different cakes....We thought it would be rude not to!

Of course, you must make a stop to the powder room while at The Ritz.....

How adorable?! Seriously bathroom selfie material, especially when the dress your wearing matches the decor!

Once seated back in the Palm Court. I got such a huge surprise when the pianist started playing a rendition of "happy birthday" whilst a beautiful birthday cake was heading my way!

Time to make a wish......

Such a surreal experience…and a very happy birthday to me!
